There are so many exciting things happening over the coming weeks, and I’d be delighted to see you at one (or more!) of these events.
Radio Interview
This week I had the pleasure of sitting down for a wide-ranging radio conversation with Eddie Williams, about writing, books and the ideas that continue to shape my work.
Our conversation wanders from Prokofiev and Diaghilev to Europe’s recent heatwave crisis, exploring how art helps us make sense of the world we inhabit. I also read several pieces of my work, including a poem inspired by Lucy Culliton’s Toolah, Artist’s Model, winner of the 2026 Sulman Prize. For the recording, I layered the readings with excerpts from my own piano compositions and birdsong recorded in my garden, creating a soundscape that felt deeply connected to the poems themselves.

South Coast Readers & Writers Festival with Inga Simpson
This weekend I’ll be appearing at the South Coast Readers & Writers Festival, where I’ll be speaking about climate change, creativity and the importance of building hope during challenging times.
If you’re attending the festival, I’d love to see you there. Please come and say hello after the session—I always enjoy meeting readers and fellow writers in person. I’ll be available for book signing after the session as well. Stay for the full weekend which is promising a wonderful line up.

Save the Date: Book Launch — How to Read A City, Your Place of Last Resort
One of the great highlights of this year is the official launch of How to Read A City, Your Place of Last Resort at Four Winds.
The afternoon will take the form of a salon, bringing together literature, music, dance and visual art. I’ll be joined by dancers and musicians, alongside Jen Webb, Nigel Featherstone, Sandra Renew and Richard Lawson. Artist Justin Pearson will also create a live painting during the performance, making this a celebration that brings all of the arts together in one place.
After so many years of development, performances and reinventions, it feels both exciting and slightly surreal to finally celebrate the publication of this book.
This project has travelled a remarkable path—through whisky bars, botanic gardens, theatres and cultural centres; onto international stages with Suzanne Leal, Cailan Hogan and many others; and in our continuing collaboration with Acacia Quartet. Along the way it has been supported by the Regional Arts Fund and, more recently, the Neilma Sidney Literary Travel Fund.
This launch is both a celebration and a thank you to everyone who has travelled alongside the project. I’d love for you to join us.
