Newcastle Writers Festival Book Launch: Nurejev's Foot
Anthology
We are looking forward to launching our new anthology this Saturday at Newcastle Writers Festival. There are so many issues to consider as sixteen brilliant writers approach writing illness, writing pain, writing disability. Together, we appraoch many different angles of writing soft tissue disorder, writing elder care, writing hypermobility, writing braided essays, writing difficult angles of life in all its complexities. Proud to be part of this anthology with Jessica Kirkness, Michelle Hamadache, Hsu-Ming Teo and more.
In my braided essay, Bodies of Water, I blend together three elements of water - swimming, Charles Darwin’s water cures, and the life of classical guitar maestro, Andres Segovia, who used a body of water as a resonator to bring a particular volume and sheen to his mysterious sound.
But there are many other approaches to living with pain and disability represented here.
